Stakeholders ponder bitcoin

Bitcoin expert Jack Joseph will be among other stakeholders to x-ray the future of Bitcoin at the inaugural Africa Bitcoin Conference set to take place in Accra, Ghana.

A statement from the organizers said Joseph would be the wealthiest bitcoin trader at the conference.

He said the conference scheduled for December will feature keynotes, presentations, panel discussions, workshops, exhibits, hackathons and other exciting activities.

The release states that over the past few years, there has been a massive increase in the adoption and use of cryptocurrency across the globe.

He said, “In Africa, although internet penetration is low, the growth has been phenomenal with a 1,200% increase in adoption between June 2020 and July 2021.

“This growth was likely contributed by the many crypto developers, technologists, investors, advocates and educators operating in African bitcoin ecosystems.”

The statement added, “In Africa, Nigeria is ranked first in the 2021 Global Crypto Adoption Index, followed by Togo, with Nigeria topping the global peer-to-peer rankings. Although there is a huge driving force behind the scenes of the bitcoin market in Africa, there is little talk about the tremendous opportunities offered by bitcoin and the future of bitcoin on the continent.

“This has created the need for increased collaboration between the various contributors to the cryptocurrency industry to enhance knowledge and resource sharing as well as deepen networking between African players and those operating in developed countries. .

“Bitcoin has transformed the way people interact with money and the global monetary system.”

According to the statement, more than 300 million crypto users have emerged in a decade, far exceeding the annual adoption rate of other digital innovations such as the internet or mobile money.

He said, “Despite having the lowest internet penetration in the world, Africa has seen the fastest growth in bitcoin adoption. The Africa Bitcoin Conference will bring together the best thought leaders and pioneers in the global industry, creating an ecosystem for all to learn, network and collaborate.
