Osun APC Stakeholders Support Consensus Candidate

Elders and All Progressives Congressional Stakeholder Caucus of Irepodun South Local Council Development Authority, Erin Osun, Osun State on Sunday declared their support for Muniru Bamidele as the consensus candidate for the Osun local government election on October 15.

The group’s position was contained in a statement signed by 22 party leaders, including ward president Mudasiru Anisere, obtained in Osogbo.

The group also rejected incumbent President Adekunle Oloyede’s decision to run for another term, insisting that Bamidele had been chosen as the consensus candidate for the ballot.

The statement read, inter alia: “As a result, Mr. Bamidele has been chosen among the 10 contenders as the party’s candidate in the upcoming local elections. At the end of the nomination process, Mr. Bamidele was advised to obtain the expression of interest and nomination form.

“Subsequently, news started circulating in the community that the incumbent interim president (Adekunle Oloyede), who never showed interest and did not show up for the screening organized by the party leadership in his local government area, that he is the anointed candidate for governor.

“We affirm that Mr. Bamidele’s nomination still stands and remains unchangeable.”

When contacted to comment, Acting Chairman, Irepodun South LCDA Oloyede said the matter was an APC matter which would be resolved by party leaders.
