MyCC invites the public, businesses and stakeholders to help survey the chicken and egg industry


PETALING JAYA: Businesses, relevant stakeholders and the public are invited to participate in the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) investigation into the chicken and egg industry.

“Interested parties are invited to contact MyCC by phone at 03-2273 2277 or by email at [email protected],” it said in a statement Wednesday, March 9.

The Commission said it had made considerable progress in its investigation, including conducting searches and recording statements from the companies and individuals concerned, which were carried out as recently as Tuesday (March 8).

“At the same time, MyCC is pleased to report that it has received strong support and cooperation in its investigation. This includes parties who have indicated their willingness to explore a leniency application under section 41 of the Competition Act 2010 to cooperate with MyCC in this regard,” he added.

The commission announced on February 1 that it had set up a special task force to investigate competition issues related to the chicken and egg industry, following a directive from the National Action Council meeting. on the Cost of Living (NACCOL) chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail. Parties found guilty of violating competition laws will face the imposition of maximum penalties and other harsh measures, MyCC previously said.
