Kogi stakeholders hold their first community roundtable

Ahead of the national Ajaokuta Steel Company relaunch conference in November, stakeholders in Kogi state are planning a state-level stakeholder roundtable.

The meeting scheduled for Saturday 23 October 2021 is part of the advocacy for the relaunch of Ajaokuta Steel Company.

In a statement released on Sunday, the chairman of the local organizing committee and head of the state-level committee, Dr Idris Jimoh, said the proceeds of
the roundtable is expected to be part of the resolutions that will be submitted to the federal government by the national coalition of CSOs after the national conference in November.

He said the event is organized as a way to recognize the important role played by the local and host community before, and the current efforts in the preparation of the national conference.

“Already several state figures, including Yahaya Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi State, traditional leaders, captains of industries and entrepreneurs, among others, are expected to attend the stakeholder meeting before the conference” , Jimoh said.

The ten-member state-level committee, chaired by Dr Jimoh, has Nasir Akonyi as secretary and eight other members from the three geopolitical areas of the state.
