The country’s leading e-commerce company, Flipkart, has launched the Flipkart Foundation with the aim of supporting the diverse ecosystem of stakeholders. The Bangalore-based group said today that the foundation will carry out transformational work by collaborating with various stakeholders in government organisations, NGOs and community leaders.
The foundation’s work will focus on four key areas: market access to underserved and underrepresented sections of society for sustainable growth opportunities for entrepreneurship and livelihoods, skills development, community development and environmental responsibility.
“By focusing on rural areas and providing equitable access to growth opportunities for women and other disadvantaged communities, the Flipkart Foundation aims to directly and indirectly positively impact 20 million lives over the next next decade,” he said. Its operations are grant-based, with contributions from the Flipkart Group and through the “Charity Checkout” feature available on Flipkart platforms.
According to Rajneesh Kumar, Director of Corporate Affairs at Flipkart, the foundation will address several societal concerns “ranging from the revival of arts and crafts, to job opportunities for the underserved, to disaster relief. disaster – all aimed at fostering inclusive development and contributing to nation building.” “We have set bold goals for the Foundation and aim to impact 20 million lives directly and indirectly over the next decade in a wide range of areas using our learnings over the years,” he said.
