The Brakpan SAPS monthly stakeholder meeting was held last Wednesday at the Rio Rooms in Carnival City.
The local police leadership met with community members, ward councilors, law enforcement, security industry and other stakeholders to find a solution to the high level of crime in Brakpan.
Discussion points included illegal dumping, regulatory operations, infrastructure tampering, illegal immigrants and general crime.
Comments were also given on the recent events of the music festival and the high density operations carried out in Brakpan.

Contributions were received from various actors, including the EMPD, regarding the Weltevreden landfill.
Metro police will continue to monitor the area for illegal dumping and compliance with regulations. Ward councilors added that a clean-up campaign in the area is underway.
The EMPD also addressed the issue of load shedding, which causes congestion at intersections, and members reported that they monitor traffic during peak hours.
Lieutenant-Colonel Anneline Naude, on behalf of the station commander, Brigadier Fredl Jonck, thanked those present and encouraged everyone to continue to fight the scourge of crime.
