CDC Releases Updated Guidance For COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Injections | New

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB / WSHM) – New COVID-19 guidance on who should receive a recall right now, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This, as the Eastfield Mall vax site resumed distributing the Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday.

Curative at Eastfield Mall told us they gave nearly 100 booster shots on Tuesday. We met a man who came here to get the shot after he heard the news he could.

“Well, I mean, I think everyone should get shot anyway. We just decided to get the recall as soon as we could, ”Palmer’s Spike Clancy said.

Clancy came from Palmer to the Eastfield Mall in Springfield to get his third dose of Pfizer. He told Western Mass News he received his second injection on March 3, over six months ago and under federal health guidelines.

“Well, they’re the ones with the brains. They are the scientists and they rely on the data they have at the time. And they make the recommendations. And I should go through them, ”Clancy said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released updated guidelines, which previously recommended the Pfizer booster for people 65 years of age and older as well as anyone who is immunocompromised. But just added to the list, those with high-risk jobs, including teachers, first responders, grocery store workers, manufacturing workers, and postal service workers.

Curative began administering the Pfizer vaccine at the mall on Tuesday – and plans to continue doing so every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“In fact, today has been great. We have already administered nearly 100 vaccines and we have other appointments scheduled. And I hope we can continue at this rate until everyone who wants to get vaccinated can get one, ”said Jenneke Reynolds, community relations manager for Curative Springfield.

When it comes to making an appointment to get your Pfizer booster shot at the Eastfield Mall, you have two options.

“A lot of people were able to book their appointments online. it takes us about 30 seconds to make an appointment for them. Especially if they’ve already had one of their first shots with us. They are already in our system. It’s a quick process, ”Reynolds said.

The Eastfield Mall Curative distributes the first and second Pfizer shots as well as the booster.
