Aggression: director of Oyo radio station, DPO resolves dispute

The general manager of a radio station, JAMZ 100.1FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr Tony Awobode, who accused Eleyele’s divisional police officer of assault, said the case had been settled.

Awobode, alias Don T, as well as the president of the Union of Nigerian Journalists of Oyo State, Mr. Ademola Babalola, confirmed on Thursday the development of the situation to one of our correspondents.

The general manager had recounted how the DPO allegedly slapped his face and rained punches in his face after the clutch of his electric motorcycle hit the side mirror of the police officer’s car.

He claimed that even though there were no scratches on the car, he was severely beaten and taken to the Iyaganku Police Station, where he learned that the officer was the DPD of the Iyaganku Police Station. Eleyele.

Awobode, Thursday, said PUNCH Metro that the state police department intervened and “settled the matter amicably”.

The NUJ president also said the issue had been resolved.

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer Adewale Osifeso also confirmed resolution of the dispute.

He said: “The DPO and the General Manager agreed that they were working towards the same goal; the media are part of the police and the police are part of the media, so they settled between them. ,,
